Hello, everyone! 👋
Today, we are going to learn about the different parts of a house. 🏠
We will learn the meanings of these words, look at pictures, and use them in simple sentences. Then, we’ll play a fun interactive game online to help you remember the words. 🎮✨
Are you ready to learn and play? Let’s get started! 😊
I. Parts if the House - Outside
These are the things we see when we look at a house from the street or when we walk around it.
We will talk about words like chimney, window, door, yard, roof, and wall.
These parts help make a house strong, safe, and comfortable.
1. Chimney
A chimney is a tall, narrow part of a house where smoke goes out. It is usually made of bricks and is found on the roof. People use it when they have a fireplace inside the house.
2. Window
A window is an opening in the wall of a building. It has glass and lets light into the room. You can also open a window to let in fresh air or look outside.
3. Door
A door is the part of a building you open to go in or out. It can be made of wood, metal, or glass. Most doors have handles and locks for safety and privacy.
4. Yard
A yard is the open space around a house. It can be in front, at the back, or on the sides. People use their yards to play, relax, or grow plants and flowers.
5. Roof
The roof is the top part of a building. It covers the house and protects it from rain, sun, and snow. Roofs can be flat or have a slope.
6. Wall
A wall is a solid part of a building that stands up straight and helps support the roof. Walls divide rooms and protect us from the weather. They can be made of brick, wood, or cement.
II. Now, we will go inside the house and learn about a very important room — the living room.
The living room is a place where families relax, talk, and spend time together. It’s usually the first room you see when you enter a house.
In this lesson, you will learn the names of common things found in a living room, like a sofa, table, rug, lamp, curtain, bookshelf, and painting. 🖼️
We’ll learn what each one is, what it’s used for, and how to talk about them in English. Then, we’ll play an interactive game to help you remember the words and have fun!
1. Sofa
A sofa is a large, soft seat where two or more people can sit. It is usually found in the living room. People use it to relax, watch TV, or talk with family and friends.
2. Table
A table is a piece of furniture with a flat top and legs. In the living room, people use a table to put drinks, snacks, or books. It can be big or small.
3. Rug
A rug is a thick piece of fabric that covers part of the floor. It makes the room look nice and feels soft when you walk on it. Rugs come in many colors and designs.
4. Lamp
A lamp is a light that you can put on a table or the floor. It helps you see better when the room is dark. Lamps are often used when reading or watching TV at night.
5. Curtain
A curtain is a piece of cloth that hangs in front of a window. It gives privacy and blocks sunlight. Curtains can be opened or closed, and they also add style to the room.
6. Bookshelf
A bookshelf is a piece of furniture with shelves. People use it to keep books, magazines, and sometimes decorations. It helps keep the living room tidy.
7. Painting
A painting is a picture made with paint, usually on a canvas. People hang paintings on the wall to decorate the room. Paintings can show people, places, or abstract art.
III. Now, we’re going to learn about one of the most useful rooms in the house — the kitchen!
The kitchen is where we cook food, wash dishes, and keep things we need for eating and cooking.
In this lesson, you will learn some important things we find in the kitchen: the refrigerator, sink, cabinet, stove, and drawer.
We will learn what they are, how we use them, and how to talk about them in English.
Let’s start exploring the kitchen together!
1. Refrigerator
A refrigerator is a large machine that keeps food and drinks cold. It helps stop food from going bad. Many people call it a "fridge" for short.
2. Sink
A sink is a bowl with a water tap. You use it to wash your hands, food, or dirty dishes. Most sinks are made of metal and have hot and cold water.
3. Cabinet
A cabinet is a piece of furniture with doors. In the kitchen, people use cabinets to keep plates, cups, and food. Cabinets are usually found on the wall or under the counter.
4. Stove
A stove is a machine we use to cook food. It usually has burners on top and sometimes an oven below. You can cook using gas or electricity.
5. Drawer
A drawer is a box that slides in and out of a piece of furniture. In the kitchen, people use drawers to keep spoons, forks, knives, and other small items.
IV. Now, we will learn about another important part of the house — the bathroom.
The bathroom is where we clean ourselves, wash our hands, and get ready for the day.
In this lesson, you will learn some useful words we use to talk about the bathroom: toilet, shower, sink, mirror, and soap rack.
We will learn what these things are, how we use them, and how to say them in English.
Let’s begin and learn more about the bathroom together! 😊
1. Toilet
A toilet is a seat with a bowl used for going to the bathroom. After using it, you press a button or handle to flush it with water. Toilets are usually found in the bathroom.
2. Shower
A shower is a place where you stand to wash your body. Water falls from above, and you can use soap and shampoo to get clean. Many people take a shower every day.
3. Sink
A sink is a bowl with a tap where water comes out. In the bathroom, you use it to wash your hands, face, or brush your teeth. It usually has cold and hot water.
4. Mirror
A mirror is a flat surface that shows your reflection. It helps you see your face when brushing your teeth, washing your face, or fixing your hair.
5. Soap Rack
A soap rack is a small shelf or holder where you keep soap. It is usually near the sink or inside the shower. It helps keep the soap dry and easy to reach.
